Still struggling to create effective window displays? Whether your stores sells apparel, jewelry, handbags, electronics, groceries, sporting equipment, or practically anything else, window displays (or lack thereof) will directly influence your sales. The right displays will encourage consumers to step into the store and purchase the advertised product, but the wrong display will have the opposite effect by discouraging consumers from buying the product. So, how do you create a winning window display?
Wouldn't it be great it there was a step-by-step process for creating a winning window display? Unfortunately, there's not. It takes time, patience, and a keen eye for design to create an effective display. Without any of these elements, you simply won't succeed in creating a winning display. The good news is that you can follow some simple tips to improve your store's window displays; thus, driving sales in the process.
One of the most common mistakes store owners and visual merchandisers make when creating window displays is filling it with too many items. This is one instance in which the "less is more" approach works best. Rather than filling every available square inch of window real estate with products or accessories, leave some space open. A cluttered window display will send consumers heading in the opposite direction, offering little-to-no value to your store.
Don't underestimate the impact color has on your window displays. Neutral colors such as brown, beige, cream and taupe tend to deliver a lackluster appearance that does your product, and store, no justice. The human brain instinctively overlooks colors such as these, making them ineffective at promoting your store's products. Bright colors, on the other hand, will catch consumers' attention, making them "think" about the advertised product. This doesn't necessarily mean that your window displays can't include neutral colors, but you should keep them to a minimum.
Another helpful tip for creating winning window displays is to use a combination of products and props. Tossing a hanging rack of apparel in a window isn't exactly appealing, nor will it deliver sales. However, several mannequins with various accessories will create a more realistic and relatable display that's far more effective.
